Tour of Magnificent Qinghai. Henok Mulubrhan wins Stage 3
XDS Astana Team rider Henok Mulubrhan claimed an impressive victory on Stage 3 of the Tour of Magnificent Qinghai in China.
The 167.7-kilometre stage started in Menyuan and finished in Huzhu. The decisive move came on the final climb, around 127 kilometres into the stage, when Henok Mulubrhan and Cristián Rodríguez launched a strong attack from the peloton. They bridged across to the lone breakaway rider before a small leading group was formed. In the final kilometres the XDS Astana Team teammates worked perfectly together to keep the pace high and set up the finale. Mulubrhan then produced a powerful sprint to take the stage victory.
"The race went really good. The whole team did an amazing job from the start to the finish, especially in the first part of the stage, controlling everything before the climb. Once we reached the climb, Cristián (Rodríguez) did a great job for me, controlling the race and helping us to stay in the best position until the finish line. I want to thank the whole team for their incredible work and support. I think today I gave them the victory we all deserved.
