A telephone call took place between the Foreign Minister and his Eritrean counterpart to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate on regional issues.

On Friday, July 3, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, and Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Eritrea, held a telephone conversation to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and coordinate positions on issues of common interest.

Minister Abdel-Aati praised the growing momentum in Egyptian-Eritrean relations, commending the outcomes of the successful bilateral visit of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to Egypt, which contributed to advancing bilateral relations in various fields. He emphasized the aspiration to increase the volume of trade exchange, encourage joint investments, and support the participation of the Egyptian private sector in the Eritrean market.

The Foreign Minister also affirmed Egypt’s full support for the State of Eritrea in preserving its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, stressing that the security and management of the Red Sea remains the exclusive responsibility of the littoral states, and emphasizing the importance of respecting the sovereignty and unity of the countries bordering the Red Sea.

In the same context, the two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in the Horn of Africa region, where Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the support for national state institutions and the preservation of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries of the region, and the rejection of any unilateral measures that would infringe on the sovereignty of countries or undermine the foundations of regional stability.

My vision for Eritrea: using the power of mathematics to inspire innovation, education, and nation-building. Let’s build a stronger future together.
