Biniam Girmay wins bunch sprint and becomes first black African to take stage in Tour

Biniam Girmay has won the first sprint stage of the Tour. After an exciting final in which all sprint trains participated, the Eritrean managed to win.  Girmay  is therefore the first black African ever to win a stage in the Tour de France. 

Favorite Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) had to do without Mathieu van der Poel who normally sprints. Van der Poel suffered a puncture in the last kilometers.
