Eritrea are reportedly withdrawing their team from the qualifying campaign, but Regragui said FIFA has not yet confirmed cancelation of the game with Morocco in Agadir.

Rabat - Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui announced today his squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier games.

The lineup includes a first-time call up, Sofiane Diop, who plays for OGC Nice.

The list also includes diverse names combining footballers playing in international leagues as well as shining stars who play in the Moroccan league.

The call-up includes Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Augerd, Romain Saiss, Hakim ZIyech, and Youssef En-Nesyri.

The list also includes Amine Harit, Azzedine Ounahi, and Sofyan Amrabat.

The full list is as follows:

The Atlas Lions are set to face Tanzania as their first opponent in Group E, which also includes Zambia, Niger, and Congo.

The team was set to also play Eritrea on November 16, but the team withdrew from the qualifiers.

Morocco will face Tanzania on November 21 at 8 p.m. local time at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Tanzanian capital Dar Es Salam.

Many observers are betting on Morocco as a favorite to qualify to the World Cup 2026, which will take place in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

The Atlas Lions became more entrenched as favorites following their spectacular performances during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they finished in a historic fourth place.

The latest ranking from FIFA puts Morocco as the 13th best national team in the world, and the best one in Africa, leading teams like Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt.
