Cameroon - Tour de l'espoir 2018: first pedaling on Wednesday
A round of the prestigious U23 Nations Cup will be staged in Cameroon from January 31 to February 4, a great first for Africa. It is also an honor for Cameroon becoming the first African country to host the Tour of Hope, an innovation for the 12 th edition of this competition.
Annual competition, the Nations Cup is a calendar of road cycling events for runners aged 19 to 22, with the aim of each team accumulating points which will determine, according to the final ranking, the number of places that each of them will have at the world championships on road hope.
The Tour de l'Espoir is one of six events that make up the 2018 U23 Nations Cup and serves as an opening for the event. Created by Vivendi Sports, the Tour de l'Espoir will take place on 4 stages between Douala and Yaoundé and a hundred runners made up of 15 mainly African teams, will take part. The first pedal stroke will be given in Douala from Canal Olympia-Bessengué and the grand finale will take place on the campus of the University of Yaoundé I-Ngoa-Ekelle. The Tour will make stops in the city of Idenau and other localities.
Under the auspices of the Cameroon Cycling Federation, the 2018 Tour de l'Espoir will be an opportunity for Cameroonian riders to showcase their potential and compete with international riders. For Cameroon it is an opportunity to highlight its cultural and tourist attractions and especially to show its legendary hospitality. And one of the highlights of this celebration of cycling will, of course, be concerts planned both in Douala and Yaounde, which will allow the valorization of local singers and musicians.

The first stage of the Tout de l'espoir 2018, the cycling nations cup is running Wednesday, January 31 closed circuit in the city of Douala.
Organized by the Vivendi Sports team in partnership with the UCI (International Cycling Union) and the Cameroon Cycling Federation, the Tour de l'espoir is an event for cyclists under 23 years old. The competition runs from January 31st to February 4th, 2018.
This is the first time this competition has been held in Cameroon and Africa. The organizers of this event say that it will be covered and broadcast on all the channels of the Canal + group, with associated advanced logistics, cameras, cars, helicopters.
The 2018 Tour of Hope will take place in four stages for a total of 417 km in total. 15 teams from several countries, most of them from the African continent (Cameroon, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Mauritius Algeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, DRC, Mali, Eritrea , Ethiopia ...) take part.
The competition will run as follows:
Stage 1 / January 31: Departure Douala - Arrival Douala. Place Reunification Boulevard
Stage 2 / February 1st: Departure Idenao- Arrival Douala (Makepe)
Stage 3/02 February: Departure Yaoundé - Arrival Yaoundé
Step 4/04 february: Departure Akono - Arrival Yaoundé
