Understanding Trump’s Voters

4 June 2025, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)

On both sides of America’s political divide, there exists a huge misunderstanding of “the other side,” because the ‘news’-media on each side ignore the valid reasons why the other side vote against their candidates, and for the opposite side’s candidates instead. For example, Biden’s voters didn’t understand the valid reasons why Trump voters rejected Biden (and Harris), and Trump’s voters didn’t understand the valid reasons why Biden voters rejected Trump. Both Parties’ voters did not understand how frighteningly bad their own Party’s nominee actually was; and, so, the entire campaign, on each side, was an exercise in appealing almost only to its own base, but with just enough promises that had bipartisan appeal so as to achieve a win. And the ‘news’-media for each side carried out their propaganda function for their respective side, by stenographically (uncritically) disseminting to its followers that side’s propaganda, as-if it were unquestionable truths, instead of distortions and outright lies, mixed in with truths to keep the credibility to its voters.

The central principle of aristocratic rule, for thousands of years, has been the “Divide and rule” principle, so that the public can be controlled by deceiving them to think that other faction(s) of the public (such as a different Party, or different religion, or different ethnicity, etc.) causes the problems, not the aristocracy itself — the few individuals who hold the actual political power: they either are the Government’s officials, or else those officials are their agents, who are then controlled by and for the aristocrats. In other words: if the public are hating each other, instead of hating the aristocracy, then there will be no revolution. And in order to deceive the public so as to achieve this result, any ‘news’-media that the aristocracy control must filter-out or “censor” facts that indicate the aristocracy itself — instead of some portion of the public — to be the source of the problem.

Also, the distinction between the rulers and the ruled needs to be heavily suppressed. Instead, the rulers (who actually exploit the public) must be presented as being advocates for the public. For example, both Biden(Harris) and Trump were presented as having been born far less wealthy and socially well-connected than they actually had been, and both of them pretended to be supporters of “the oppressed” (which both Biden’s voters and Trump’s voters thought they were). If the public don’t know that the public — all of the people except the aristocracy — are being oppressed by the aristocracy, then there will be no revolution. So, the aristocrats will then be safe and will be able to continue their exploitation of the public (such as keep wages down and keep product-safety regulations minimal and minimally-enforced).

An excellent article was published today by Steve Brown explaining Trump’s crossover appeal, his actually bipartisan appeal, which turned out to have been sufficiently large for him to have eked out his electoral win in 2024 — and this was a bipartisan appeal that was very effectively hidden from Democratic Party voters (most of them knew little to nothing about Trump’s progressive promises) who read and listen to only Democratic Party propaganda-media. Brown’s article is excellent not only because it is eloquently written, but because it summarizes better than I have seen elsewhere, the crossover aspects of Trump’s campaign, which won him the Presidency, by those lies. His article is titled “Where is Trump?” and opens:

Usually flapping his veneered gums for the major media with some contrary nonsense or other, Trump seems to have taken a break. Instead we have Lindsey Graham and his sidekick Blumenthal in Kiev, prancing perversely braying for war, while typically ejaculating over the remains of Gaza, at the behest and self-pleasure of their Wall Street handlers.

So. Where is Trump? Is he just embarrassed and in hiding? Trump ran on the platform of being a ‘peace candidate’. Trump featured Tucker, Tulsi, RFK Jr, and even Hulk Hogan in his attempt to convince voters that he is one of the people. Trump even invited local Muslim leaders to speak at his campaign rally in Michigan before the election. Trump promoted himself as being a defacto Libertarian ‘free market’ rogue, who can stand up to the Deep State and CIA/NSA cancer that infests the US political system.

Trump promised to end the US proxy war on Russia, waged via the Kiev proxy monstrosity that Jack – er, ahem, Joe built. And to end the genocide on Palestinians being perpetrated by a war criminal occupying “state”. Trump promised to release all documents relating to JFK’s assassination; about Epstein’s improbable self-immolation; and with Kash Patel as a side-show producing all the dirt on a certain intensely corrupt mountebank — popularly known as Joe Biden. Trump promised to cut the rot out of the governmental cancer infesting the Beltway, until ‘DOGE guy’ Musk showed up at Trump’s office looking vacant, sporting a black eye… while both stared at the oval office ceiling.

So Trump must be very embarrassed now. Because the current Merriweather Post mansion inhabitant prima donna Trump did nothing as promised, with one single possible exception of partially dismantling the USAID regime change operation, a highly criminalized federal government/CIA blight on the world.

Trump is a failure… but that is not entirely his fault. There is very little that Trump or anyone can do about the Be’elzebub state that the political system of the former United States has morphed into, over many decades. Certainly since 22 November 1963 [JFK’s assassination], but even long before. A massive wall of opposition exists from Wall Street and from very powerful Oligarchs, who oppose any attempt to reform the deadly warmongering profit machine that is the US today.

Anyway, if it is true that the Kiev regime had been planning this idiotic attack on Russia for eighteen months, then Trump and his staff must have known about this attack. Assuming this was no ad-hoc idiocy inspired at the last moment by deranged SBU/Zelensky staff, then the United States was fully aware of this attack – and so was Trump…  who increasingly looks like a cardboard cutout for the Deep State [the “Oligarchs”].

So, take it as given that Trump knew about these incredibly stupid AFU drone attacks on Russia, from inside Russia, well before they happened. In conclusion of that, let’s face it: the United States is at war with Russia. Why not admit that? We must. And Trump is doing nothing to effectively end it. Why? Because Wall Street’s MIC/Deep State will not allow him to do so even though the people of the former United States overwhelmingly voted for that.

And Russia’s leadership cannot be let off the hook either. Russia is well aware of the psychosis that rages deep within Washington. And yet by complying with a START treaty obligation – a treaty with the US who is at war with Russia – Russia allowed its TU-95 aircraft to sit exposed on the tarmac for Kiev to attack. Why does Russia comply with any treaty by an enemy sworn to destroy it, since April of 1945? Why does Russia trust the mad dogs of the Beltway under any circumstance, for any reason? The foregoing defies all logic.

Meanwhile, let’s think of ideas about how Russia might respond to Kiev’s lunatic attack. Despite a number of asymmetric kinetic ideas (not including the SMO for brevity) there is no point in writing about them — with just two exceptions. What if… is it possible for western GPS systems to be jammed? Technically I have no idea, but have read about the possibility. And how about the same for Starlink?

A non-confrontational asymmetric option might be for Russia to end Turkstream gas flows to Europe.  Likewise the west’s LBMA gold market is vulnerable and BRICS might take a more aggressive position versus the dollar US than it has heretofore.

Another ‘peaceful’ option would be to target Wall Street via bitcoin. Wall Street and Trump are champions of bitcoin. Hacking bitcoin would expose major US corporates and Exchange Traded funds — and Bitcoin trusts — to Wall Street disaster. Even though only a few bitcoin “whales” control its price as a derivative of fiat currency [1], fully two trillion in USD represents the BTC market capitalization.  To hack away two trillion USD in bitcoin – which I believe is potentially possible as time progresses – would certainly crash the crooks on Wall Street via their Dealer Bank bitcoin shares and ETF’s; for example Xtrackers Galaxy Physical Bitcoin ETC Securities and JPM bitcoin ETF. [2]

Of course, none of the above explains about Trump, where he is, or what he is doing.  As the Mussolini-like leader  — or so he seems to appear — hopes to Make America Great Again, now Trump seems to have disappeared. …

Brown has, here, in my opinion, brilliantly opened, first, by summarizing Trump’s progressive promises, none of which he actually intended to fulfill on, and then Brown went beyond this, to point out that Trump is no progressive, at all, but instead a fascist. He went even farther, to speculate about possible options for Russia to take. I have no opinions about those proposals, but they really don’t deal with the basic problems. Furthermore, when Brown asked “Why does Russia comply with any treaty by an enemy sworn to destroy it, since April of 1945?” that was wrong: Until 25 July 1945, Truman had not yet decided to start the Cold War and the Military Industrial Complex. But nonetheless, Brown’s criticism of Putin as having been too trusting of the U.S. (Truman-created) regime (“the Be’elzebub state that the political system of the former United States has morphed into, over many decades”), has unquestionalbly been true. And the rot in the U.S. Government has been consistent ever since 25 July 1945, except that JFK, toward his end, tried to break away from it and was assassinated for that by the system Truman had established. Truman’s system (now commonly called “neoconservatism” or the “MIC” and its supporters, or simply American imperialists) has been the system of both the Republican and the Democratic Parties (it has been America’s Government), ever since 25 July 1945.

In any case, fixing the problem that Truman started, was discussed by my 16 March 2023 “The Transformative Present Moment in History”. But even if the world will take the correct road forward, to change the U.N. to what FDR had been planning, getting to its destination of replacing today’s U.N. by the one that FDR had been planning — undoing the vast harm that Truman had institutionalized — would be a long and hard road, especially because that system now has so many parts, all of which would have to be changed.

FDR was right: both World Wars were created by contesting imperialisms; and empires create imperialistic subversions, sanctions, coups, and military invasions — empires are the forces behind aggressions. FDR had the solution, but Truman ditched it (in order to create an all-inclusive American empire); so, we live in Truman’s imperialistic world (America’s “international-rules-based order” — America’s global dictatorship), NOT in FDR’s U.N.-controlled world (the U.N.’s international-laws-based order — the U.N.’s global democratic federal republic of nations). Without FDR’s solution, the only possible result will be World War Three, and the only question is: when will the end be reached? Whereas FDR gave us the path toward world peace and widespread well-being and prosperity, Truman gave us only a path of highly concentrated wealth leading toward WW3, and that’s the path we’re still on.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
