A video clip circulated on social media showing Sudanese military intelligence teams raiding the headquarters of the National Intelligence and Security Services.

The footage showed billions of recently printed Sudanese pounds burned inside the building.

Activists said the Security Service used the freshly printed banknotes to pay gangs to harass protestors who demanded the ouster of President Omar Al-Bashir.

On 11 April, the Sudanese Army detained long-term dictator Al-Bashir and declared a three-month state of emergency in an effort to bring calm to the country after protests entered their fourth month. He was thought to have been held under house arrest.

Al-Bashir’s family said today that he has now been moved to the Kobar prison in the capital Khartoum.
