According to the Koblenz police headquarters, the body was found on Friday in a wooded area near Monreal in the Mayen-Koblenz district. A joint press release from the Siegen public prosecutor's office and the Hagen police stated that the body was missing its head and hands.
Therefore, authorities are now investigating whether there is a connection to a case in North Rhine-Westphalia: Two weeks ago, severed female hands were found on the A45 near Olpe . A DNA comparison will be used to determine whether the remains belong to the woman found dead near Monreal. The results are still pending. Koblenz police expect to receive them in the coming days.
Initial investigations indicated that the hands belonged to a 32-year-old Eritrean woman. A forensic examination revealed that the hands had been severed after the woman's death. The woman and her three-month-old child were registered at an asylum accommodation center in Bonn. The baby was found unharmed in a stroller in front of a monastery in Waldsolms, Hesse, on November 16 .
