Mysterious case: Baby abandoned, mother's hands found

The woman whose hands were found on the A45 motorway have been identified as belonging to her remains missing. Her three-month-old baby, however, was found on Sunday in front of a monastery. Police are searching for the father.

On Monday night, police found severed hands on the A45 motorway . These were identified as belonging to a 32-year-old woman . It has now been revealed that the woman's baby was found unharmed in a stroller in front of a monastery in Waldsolms, Hesse, on Sunday. Police and prosecutors stated that the circumstances surrounding how the three-month-old child came to be in front of the monastery are currently under investigation. According to information obtained by the German Press Agency (dpa) from security sources, police are searching for the child's father. The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported on this.

The three-month-old baby is the child of a 32-year-old woman from Eritrea whose severed hands were found on the A45 motorway near Olpe in the Sauerland region on Monday night. The search for the woman has so far been unsuccessful, police and prosecutors said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon. The motive for the crime remains unclear. The homicide investigation is ongoing.
