Asmara: Abdullah Wad Al-Sharif
Sudan’s ambassador to Eritrea, Osama Ahmed Abdelbari , met with the United Nations Special Envoy for Africa, Guang Kong, and provided a comprehensive briefing on the political and military situation in the country, focusing on the efforts of the “Government of Hope” headed by Professor Kamil Idris, and the serious violations committed by the terrorist militia in various parts of Sudan.
During the meeting, Ambassador Abdulbari emphasized the great efforts undertaken by the country’s government, headed by Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris, in the areas of development, services, and infrastructure rehabilitation, especially after the widespread and systematic destruction left by the terrorist militia in vast areas of the country, including the capital Khartoum and most of the cities and villages of Al-Jazirah State.
He also noted the government’s efforts to achieve political and social consensus, and its continued support for the armed forces and supporting forces in the “Battle of Dignity,” expressing his dissatisfaction with the militia’s continued criminal practices in the Kordofan and El Fasher regions, where it is committing “genocide and massacres” amid suspicious international silence.
The ambassador pointed out that the terrorist militia continues its destructive and retaliatory approach, which has been documented with conclusive evidence, holding the international community responsible for failing to protect civilians.
Abdulbari, through the UN envoy, appealed to the international community to take urgent action to stop the flow of weapons and equipment to the militia, especially from the United Arab Emirates, and to work to stop the flow of mercenaries to conflict zones.
He also called for doubling the volume of humanitarian aid to meet the needs of displaced people who have fled their homes due to ongoing violence and abuses, stressing that the country is witnessing a real “humanitarian catastrophe” in the states of Darfur and Kordofan, where the militia is committing “ethnic cleansing and genocide crimes.”
For his part, UN envoy Guang Kong expressed his sympathy and deep concern regarding the situation in Sudan, and condemned the crimes and violations committed by the terrorist militia. He affirmed that the UN Secretary-General is closely monitoring the situation, noting that a report on developments, particularly in light of the ongoing human rights violations, will be submitted to him.
