June 2, 2025 (KHARTOUM) – The commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, known as Hemetti, on Monday threatened to launch an attack on El Obeid in North Kordofan state and the Northern State, reiterating accusations that Egypt was attacking RSF positions and supporting the army.
RSF forces are positioned around El Obeid from three directions, including Al-Khawi, Hamrat al-Sheikh and Al-Hammadi, after mobilizing fighters from Darfur and Kordofan who recaptured Al-Khawi and Al-Debaybat late last week.
“We tell the army, if you think of using El Obeid as a launchpad to bomb Darfur and Kordofan, we will come to you. Our force is ready to move at any time,” Hemetti said in a recorded speech broadcast on the RSF’s Telegram platform.
He advised residents of El Obeid to stay home, close shops and avoid military sites. He issued the same advice to people in the Northern State, saying his forces were on their way to attack it.
Hemetti said his forces had lists of targets in the Northern State cities of Merowe, Ad-Dabba and Dongola, stressing that anyone loyal to Islamic Movement Secretary-General Ali Karti, and its leaders Ahmed Haroun and Osama Abdallah, was a “legitimate target for us.”
Hemetti described his forces’ recapture of Al-Debaybat in South Kordofan and Al-Khawi in West Kordofan as a “great victory,” announcing that the RSF had destroyed 70% of the “Al-Sayad” (Hunter) military column’s hard power.
He said the Al-Sayad column had sought to regain control of En Nahud and Al-Khawi in West Kordofan, and El-Daein in East Darfur, and to break the siege on El Fasher in North Darfur.
The Al-Sayad column is one of the army’s most significant mobile units. It has regained vital areas in North Kordofan, including Um Ruwaba, and broken the siege on El Obeid. It includes most of the soldiers and commanders of the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala, South Darfur.
Accusations against Egypt
The RSF commander renewed accusations that Egypt was supporting the army and supplying it with eight aircraft piloted by Egyptian pilots that take off from Dongola to bomb Kordofan and Darfur. He called this a “blatant aggression against the Sudanese people.”
He said on Sunday Egypt brought in 32 military trucks carrying weapons, ammunition and aviation fuel, declaring that the RSF would confront “any external interference that threatens Sudan.”
He also warned Eritrea against continuing to support the army with equipment and fighters.
Soon, an end to the conflict
Hemetti predicted an end to the war soon, linking its conclusion to the demise of the Islamic Movement organization. He also announced his rejection of a return to the Jeddah talks.
“The era of compromises is over. No negotiation with those who kill their people from the air, and no peace with those who refuse to acknowledge their crimes. We are ready for a political solution, but not with murderers and criminals,” he added.
He stressed that he was not a warmonger, saying he worked to prevent its outbreak by informing Ali Karti that “the army would destroy the country.”
He claimed the army had planned four days earlier to eliminate Hemetti and his deputy, Abdel Rahim Daglo, to defeat the RSF. He emphasized the RSF would continue to exist even if he resigned from commanding the forces or retired from the war, as the matter had become a cause.
Hemetti announced their intention to form an investigation committee regarding the killing of a captive run over by a military vehicle, calling on his forces to hand prisoners over to field courts.
