America’s Being a Dictatorship, Not a Democracy, Has Now Become Obvious
Eric Zuesse (blogs at https://theduran.com/author/eric-zuesse/)
One thing that a democracy never does it to participate in a genocide, but today’s America is doing it.
Never before (except perhaps regarding its own Indians in the 1800s) has the U.S. Government participated in a genocide, but ever since at least October 16th when both Egypt and Jordan decided that under no circumstances would they cooperate with Israel’s plan to get rid of the Gazans and to take Gaza for Jewish settlers, the U.S. Government has been totally isolated internationally in backing Israel, and in being the only supplier to Israel of the crucial weapons, bombs, and other ammunition, to either exterminate the Gazans, or else drive them out into other countries — but, in either case, to ethnically cleanse Gaza of its current population. This is the first time in history when the United States Government has partnered in a genocide; and, so, when the American public come to know this reality, they will turn against Biden, but neither Trump nor Kennedy have criticized Biden for arming Israel to do this. So: none of the billionaire-backed candidates is worth a damn to any democracy, and those are the only candidates who stand a chance to become elected President on November 5th. Most of the campaign money comes from America’s nearly a thousand billionaires; and no candidate who isn’t backed by any of them stands any significant chance to win.
On 24 January 2024, Britain’s Guardian, whose main readership is America's Democrats, headlined “More than one-third of Americans believe Israel is committing genocide, poll shows: Poll released Wednesday shows divisions by age and political lines, with 35% overall saying campaign against Palestinians is genocide.”
On 6 February 2024, WCVB in Boston headlined “Half of Americans [50%] think Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, UMass-Amherst/WCVB [nationwide] poll finds.”
That 35%, which quickly became 50%, will be lots higher by November 5th, and might be high enough so that Trump and-or Kennedy will have changed their tune about the matter and be criticizing Biden for participating in this genocide, but there is nothing that Biden will be able to do to pretend to be against the genocide that he will have made possible. By November 5th, this genocide issue will be on everybody’s mind — much more important than it is today. Its political beneficiary will be either Trump or Kennedy — whichever exploits it the more skillfully. But, in any case, whomever wins the White House will be serving the billionaires who backed him, not the public to whom he had lied about this historically turning-point issue until it became a political weapon with which to manipulate the public’s political preference so as to determine which one of the three U.S. Presidential candidates that America’s billionaires back will win.
Normally, foreign policies are at or near the very bottom in the issues that Americans consider important. For example: in the poll that the Guardian linked to, only 1% of respondents identified “Foreign policy” as “the most important issue for you.” By contrast: 20% named “Inflation/prices.” 12% chose “Immigration.” 11% named “Jobs and the economy.” 11% selected “Health care.” All other issues were below 10%. However, if the International Court of Justice by then will have moved the Gaza-genocide case to the International Criminal Court and indicated that not only Netanyahu should be tried but also Biden, then that might have a political impact against Biden that would be as big as if Trump has become convicted in the U.S. on the January 6, 2020, events. And whereas Trump has political teflon, Biden does not.
All indications (such as the chronically very low job-performance ratings that Americans give their head-of-state as compared with the ratings of heads-of-state by the citizens in countries that aren’t allied with the U.S. Government — which rating is a crucial indicator of the extent to which a Government is authentically a democracy) are that America scores among the nations that are the least democratic and where the trust in the national Government is also among the lowest. However, if Biden becomes considered throughout the world to be a principal in the Gaza genocide case, then the myth that America is a democracy will become severely damaged if not destroyed. In that eventuality, even some of America’s allies might decide that not only Israel but also America is so reputationally damaged as to be toxic to be publicly allied with.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
