Dr. Adiam Tsegai
As an immigrant from Eritrea, East Africa, to the Bronx as a teen, she was the first person in her family to obtain a college degree when she earned her associate degree at ECC. She went on to the University at Buffalo to obtain her master’s degree in psychology and African American studies, her master’s of education and her doctorate in educational and leadership policy.
Dr. Adiam Tsegai was appointed President of SUNY Erie Community College on Dec 5, 2023.
She previously served as the college’s Officer-in-Charge since 2022, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, a position she was appointed to in mid-2021, after serving as the college’s Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs of Health Sciences, Engineering and Technologies. Dr. Tsegai joined SUNY Erie as the Dean of Engineering and Technologies in 2018.
Prior to joining SUNY Erie, Dr. Tsegai held positions of increasing rank at Bryant and Stratton College from 2002-2018.
An alumna of SUNY Erie, having earned her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Social Science, Dr. Tsegai went on to study at the University at Buffalo, where she received her B.A. in Psychology and African American Studies, her M.Ed. in General Education, and her Ph.D. in Educational and Leadership Policy and Social Foundations.
