The firm will supervise the 30MW Dekemhare project.
Germany's Fichtner has been awarded a €1.47 million (US$1.26 million) consultancy contract for the 30MW Dekemhare solar project in Eritrea.
The contract period is 36 months, starting 30 August. The scope of services includes project management, tendering support and construction supervision.
Eritrea’s Ministry of Energy and Mines invited proposals for the consultancy contract in April 2023. A total of three bids were received. The other bidders were Germany's Intec-GOPA and India's WAPCOS.
In March, the African Development Bank approved US$50 million in funding to support the project, which also includes the construction of a 15MW/30MWh battery energy storage system, a 33/66kV substation and a 66kV transmission line.
On 12 August, contractors were invited to submit bids without prequalification for the design and build contract.
The deadline for submissions is 17 October. The project site is 40km southeast of the capital Asmara.
