According to the city of Daegu, the elite event of the 2022 Daegu International Marathon was held face-to-face at Daegu Stadium in Suseong-gu, Daegu on the morning of the 3rd. It is the first marathon event inviting foreign athletes to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's Daegu International Marathon is being held face-to-face and non-face-to-face with over 11,000 participants from the 25th of last month to the 30th of this month.

About 150 elite athletes, including 37 from 10 countries, participated in the event, and Ethiopia's Shephira Aredo took the men's championship with a record of 2:06:28. In second place, Kenya's Dixon Chumba, who was predicted to be a strong contender for the championship with a record of 2 hours and 4 minutes overseas, was runner-up with 2 hours 7 minutes 10 seconds, 42 seconds behind Aredo. Morocco's Hamra Sari (2 hours 7 minutes 14 seconds) took third place.

In the women's division, Eritrean national Nazareth Weldou Ghebrechwet won the championship with a record time of 2:21:56.

In this tournament, the elite match will be played face-to-face on this day, the Masters face-to-face match will be held on the half course for 9 days, the 10km course for 10 days, and the Masters non-face-to-face match will be held from the 25th of last month to the 30th of this month. Plogging means picking up trash while running to protect health and the environment.
