Over three hundred members of California’s Ethiopian and Eritrean American communities met with Governor Gavin Newsom in a Zoom conference this week. KPFA’s Ann Garrison has the story.
California’s Ethiopian and Eritrean communities met with Governor Gavin Newsom to express their admiration for his progressive policies and pledge their no votes in the August 16 recall election.
They also expressed disappointment with the Biden Administration’s aggression toward Ethiopia and Eritrea, including censure, sanctions, and a threat to damage US-Ethiopian trade relations. Western officials and press have relentlessly condemned and demonized the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments since the regional conflict began last November, even though the TPLF started the war by attacking the Ethiopian national army and firing missiles into Eritrea.
