Juan Ayuso (Colpack Ballan), the 18-year-old pearl of Spanish cycling, has struck a double blow at the Giro d'Italia under-23, signing the victory in the second stage and donning the leader's jersey.
Ayuso, who has a contract with the UAE Emirates World Tour team, won alone, with a time of 3 hours, 9 minutes and 29 seconds on the 138-kilometer journey between Riccione and Imola, beating his Italian partner Alessandro Verre and Eritrean Henok Mulubrhan (Qhubeka).
With this victory Ayuso is also ahead in the general classification with a lead of 5 seconds over Verre and 8 over Mulubrhan.
The Spaniard continues to have inspiration in Italy, as this season he had already won the Giro Belvedere and the Piva Trophy.
