MP’s call over woman’s death
An MP has called for an overhaul of support services for immigrants, many of whom are housed in Glasgow’s tower blocks, after a woman fell 11 floors to her death.
Police are treating as suspicious the death in Royston on Monday of 30-year-old Alem Shimeni, who was from Eritrea and had been living in the Milton area.
Local Labour MP Paul Sweeney told the Daily Record: “I am continually shocked at the hostility and vindictiveness that the most vulnerable people in the world are treated with when they come to this country. The system is broken and leaves people even more vulnerable.”
