1 February 2018

The Tour de l'Espoir , the first historical African test of the Under 23 Nations Cup, has seen today a new victory for the national team of Eritrea . To win the second stage, the Idenao-Douala of 147 km, was in fact the 20 year old Daniel Habtemichael who in the final race was the protagonist of a good escape together with Jean Paul René Ukiniwabo (Rwanda): Habtemichael was the victim of a puncture but then he managed to get back on top of the race and beat his sprinting companion. At 38 "the Mauritian Grégory Rougier-Lagane took the third position while the main group crossed the finish line of 54" set in a sprint by the Algerian Assal.
The two fugitives today were not a direct threat to the first in the standings that all came together in the group: the leader jersey remains on the shoulders of Natnael Mebrahtomwith 23 "on Zemenfes Selemun who has recovered 1" of rebate to a flying finish, then follow Chokri, Areruya, El Kouraji and Visser between 33 "and 40" of attack.
