Germany's past | Coronavirus round-up

Germany’s culture of remembering its past is viewed by many as exemplary. But it has some grave shortcomings. Two in particular stand out. Henning Melber and Reinhart Kössler argue that by focusing on the Holocaust of the Jews in Europe, it marginalises and disregards other mass crimes of the Nazi period. Secondly, it continues to ignore the evils it committed as a colonial power in Africa, Oceania and China.

And in our latest weekly coronavirus roundup, Brian Keogh in New York looks at how possible it might be to reopen schools, restaurants and offices while keeping the coronavirus at bay.
