As evidenced in the recent World Under-20 Athletics Championships , the African representation achieved the first places in the elite category of the 'Pacific Race Cali 10K' , which took place on Sunday ( 09.11.2022 ) with start and arrival at Plazoleta Jairo Varela.
Rahel Daniel (Eritrea) in women and Edwin Soi (Kenya) in men confirmed their favoritism and with times of 32.32 and 28.57 minutes, respectively, they occupied the top of the podium. The good news for Colombia was the third place of Bogota's Iván González, who arrived after Soi and Ethiopian Yasin Haji, with 29.52.
The competition had a cool climate and the usual accompaniment of caleños and caleñas, during the 10-kilometre route with return on 44th street with 3rd north avenue.
From the beginning, the podium options were chosen and Soi showed that she was in the best condition in men, so her leadership was never threatened. In ladies, Daniel's victory was not so convincing, since the Kenyans Monicah Ngige and Veronikah Nyaruai, as well as the Mexican Daniela Torres and the Argentine Daiana Ocampo, were very attentive to his movements.
