31st Eritrean Independence Day was colourfully celebrated in Birmingham, on Saturday 28th May 2022. The celebration in Birmingham, was attended by Mr. Saleh Abdella, Head of Administration & Finance, Mr. Tewelde Yohannes, Head of Public & Community, Embassy of the State of Eritrea to UK & Ireland, along with more than 350 Eritrean British citizens residing in the Birmingham.

Mr. Amanuel Tecle, chair of the Organizing Committee presented the opening remarks by welcoming the participants and wishing the event a success.

Speaking at the event Head of Public & Community of the Embassy of the State of Eritrea to UK & Ireland, Mr. Tewelde Yohannes, stressed the paramount importance of holding the event in bringing Eritreans together.

It also has a vital role to play in reinforcing identity and bequeathing cherished societal values to future generations, he added, thanking the participants in taking part on the celebration of Eritrean Independence there by updating the participants on current state of affairs, and progress.

Following the presentations a traditional Eritrean dinner, which later continued on beautiful musical entertainment with great artistic line-up put their harmony filled with soul concluding the night in a traditional Eritrean dance bringing every participant together - This year's Independence day under the theme “ “Independent choice, backbone of our pride” celebrated in a vibrant spirit!
