Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Eritrean President Isaiah Afewerki and Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed agreed this during a meeting in Asmara, capital of Eritrea, where they discussed the situation in their respective nations and the trilateral cooperation.

Named 2020 Joint Action Plan and with objectives set to be fulfilled in coming years, the agenda also includes actions to raise social indicators in the area occupied by these three states and Djibouti.

The Foreign Ministry's statement released on Tuesday states that the three leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the tri-party agreement signed in September 2018, whose results were reviewed on Monday's meeting.

According to the text, another of the Plan's objectives is to put into practice a regional system capable of preventing, fighting and neutralizing terrorism, arms trafficking, human trafficking and drug smuggling, among other scourges.
