The ‘Passage in Eritrea and Ethiopia’ exhibition, which is part of the ‘Italy, Culture, Africa’ programme, proposes a comprehensive view of the two Countries that signed a peace agreement after a 50-year long war. The photography, writing and training travelling workshop held in Addis Ababa and Asmara was open to students of different nationalities, including the laboratory trainees and local photographers and students.
The tour of the three cities began at the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa on 19 June, where the exhibition was also visited by the Deputy Foreign Minister Emanuela Del Re, who was in Ethiopia to attend the first Italy-Ethiopia Business Forum. The exhibition was presented at the Macro Museum of Rome on 20 June and will open today at the Casa degli Italiani in Asmara.
The visitors will be shown places and people, fragments of everyday life in a potentially game-changing historical period. In Ethiopia, the trip goes from Dancalia along the historic route to Lake Tana and the capital while in Eritrea, the trip started in the capital city on the plateau and moved on to market towns and remote islands.
