Ethiopian Gov’t, ONLF Sign Peace Deal

Addis Ababa, October 22, 2018 (FBC) – The government of Ethiopian and the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) yesterday signed a peace deal in the Eritrean capital Asmara that culminate one of the oldest arms struggle in Ethiopia.



The Ethiopian delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, where as the ONLF side was led by the Front’s Chairman, Admiral Mohamed Umer Usman.

The two held a productive discussion and reached historic deal that allowed the ONLF to undertake peaceful political struggle in Ethiopia.

Indeed, this is a beginning of new chapter of peace and stability in Ethiopia, particularly in Somali regional state, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.


The Ethiopian delegation was accompanied by Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide and Vice President of Somali regional state, Mustafe Mohamed, among others.

The Ethiopian parliament removed ONLF from terrorist list recently.
