Francisco referred to the situation that the country has been living for about a month and a half, when the youth of the country began a series of protests against a new law on government social insurance.
Although Daniel Ortega's government finally did not pass the law, the protests have continued to cause more than 200 deaths and numerous injuries due to government reprisals through the army and paramilitary forces related to the regime.
The Pope also reminded Syria and renewed his call "so that this population, already hard hit for years, will be spared more suffering." A situation that "remains serious especially in the province of Daraa," he said.
