Migrants, arrived in the port of Reggio Calabria one ship with 232 on board

The Sea Watch 3 has recently arrived in the port of Reggio Calabria, ship of a German NGO flying the Dutch flag, with 232 migrants on board in recent days in the Sicilian Channel. The ship has been stationed for three days in the Sar waters before the authorization of the landing in an Italian port arrived from Italy. Only yesterday, from the Viminale, was the port of Reggio Calabria. It is the first ship with migrants to disembark after the inauguration of the new government. On board there are 215 men, 17 women, one of whom is pregnant, and 29 unaccompanied minors between the ages of 9 and 18 and a child of 5 years. Their conditions are precarious. They present problems of dehydration due to their long stay at sea. On the ground, under the coordination of the Prefecture, the now a proven acceptance and identification plan. No indication at the moment on the final destination of the migrants but there are already buses for their transfer.

On the platform, waiting for the start of the landing operations, there is the reception device. There are the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters of Reggio Calabria, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Provincial Police, Red Cross, Regional Civil Protection and the Metropolitan City of Reggio, and Ecclesial Coordination landings of the Diocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova. 

Assisted in two separate operations 

The 232 migrants arrived this morning in the port of Reggio Calabria aboard the Sea Watch 3 are the result of two separate rescue operations at sea. The first event involved 117 people, mostly from Eritrea, Nigeria, Algeria, Niger, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry and Senegal. In the second event 115 migrants were rescued, all men: 110 of them come from Sudan, 2 from Nigeria, 2 from Gambia and 1 from Guinea Bissau. 

After landing, adults will almost all be transferred to other regions. Only 25 will remain in Calabria. According to the allotment plan prepared by the Ministry of the Interior, 25 will go to Puglia, as many will be transferred to Emilia Romagna and Piedmont; 32 will reach Lombardy, other 4 groups of 25 people will reach Tuscany, Veneto, Campania and Lazio.  

Other landing at Pozzallo 

The landing operations of 235 migrants have begun at the port of Pozzallo. They are 109 aboard "Eighteen" ship of the Italian Coast Guard and 126 of the "Seefuchs" pleasure craft flying the Dutch flag, but referable to a German NGO .. The ships arrived in the night in Pozzallo. The transfer to the dock of migrants has just begun.
