Eritrean Nurhussein the best in Utrecht Science Park Marathon

UTRECHT - The winnings in the Utrecht Science Park Marathon went to Mohammed Nurhussein from Eritrea. The African runner managed to cover the 42-mile trek through the middle of the country in 2:18:34.
He remained Yekeber Bayabel from Ethiopia two seconds ahead of the Science Park. David Cherop from Uganda crossed the finish line one minute after the winner.
Among the women, the profit for the second year went to Maria Magdalena Veliscu. The Romanian crossed the line in Utrecht after 3:01:31. Dutch Vanessa Gosselink finished second in more than six minutes. The Belgian Adinda Vetsuypens finished third after 3 hours and 24 minutes.

Some six thousand participants today braved an icy cold and a biting wind during the 37th edition of the Utrecht Science Park Marathon. The temperature was around freezing, but due to the northeast wind it felt about ten degrees colder.

Nevertheless, this year again a large number of fanatical participants started at the Cambridgelaan. Along the 21-kilometer course, the almost as fanatical spectators encouraged the athletes. Winner of the entire marathon is Mohammed Nurhussein from Eritrea. He passed the finish with a time of 2: 18.34.

Runners could participate in various disciplines. With the running competition money was also raised for KWF Cancer control . About 70.00 euros will be donated to the charity this year.

The leading group measures the winner Nurhussein.The course covered, among other things, the Maliebaan.
