US vs China | Far-right manifestos

Editor's note

The trade war between the United States and China is heating up. President Donald Trump recently threatened to impose a 10% tariff on the remaining US$300 billion of untaxed Chinese imports to the U.S. China retaliated by letting the value of its currency fall to the lowest level in more than a decade and halting all crop imports from the US. The economies of both countries are suffering, but Charles Hankla sees no end in sight.

And, in Texas, 22 people were shot dead this past weekend by a young white man. Law enforcement officials say the shooter published an anti-immigrant manifesto just before the killings began. Arie Perliger writes that issuing a manifesto is a new way of doing things for the violent far-right - not just in the U.S, but elsewhere on the globe, too.
