NMBS  The public prosecutor's office in Bergen nevertheless assumes an accident after a body was found this morning along the track in Opzullik in the province of Hainaut. The public prosecutor reports this to Belga.

The body was noticed around 6.45 am by a train driver who was driving between Halle and Tournai. He informed the police.

The victim is a man from Eritrea, born in 1986. He would have been hit by a train earlier in the morning or last night. The public prosecutor says there are no indications that this is a suspicious death.

Railway network manager Infrabel had previously stated that the first findings revealed that the death was not the result of a train accident.

Train traffic was interrupted between Halle and Tournai, so that the police and the public prosecutor could come to the scene. The trains have been running normally since 10 am, although delays and cancellations are still possible.

Body found along the tracks: train traffic interrupted between Halle and Tournai

Train traffic was interrupted for a while on Wednesday morning on line 94 between Halle and Tournai, after a body was found along the tracks in Opzullik, in the province of Hainaut. Railway network manager Infrabel had previously stated that the first findings revealed that the death was not the result of a train accident, but the public prosecutor of Bergen now contradicts this.

The victim is a man from Eritrea, born in 1986. He would have been hit by a train earlier in the morning or during the night. The public prosecutor declares that there are no indications that this is a suspicious death.

The body was noticed by the train driver, who informed the police. The public prosecutor's office in Bergen is competent for the investigation.

The train traffic was stopped so that the police and the public prosecutor could come to the scene, according to Infrabel. The traffic on the line is therefore severely disrupted. One of the tracks could be put back into use around 9 a.m.
