Remains of turtle shells and horns of six different individuals of a giant buffalo similar to the bull of Buia ( Bos buiaensis ) or its ancestor, Olduvai buffalo ( Pelorovis oldowayensis ) have emerged .
There have also been abundant remains of Acheulian lithic industry in large format and fauna of large vertebrates such as hippos ( Hippopotamus cf. gorgops ), two species of pigs ( Metridichoerus modestus and Kolpochoerus majus ), antelopes, monkeys, crocodiles and turtles.
In general, it can be said that the entire record corresponds to an early Acheulean age , in a chronology of between 1.5 and one million years old.
The campaign has applied new dating methodologies based on the ESR (Electronic Magnetic Resonance) technique and progress has been made in the geological cartography of the basin.
