As many of you already know, it is time again to think about organizing panels for the annual African Studies Association meeting. The ESA also holds its annual meeting during the ASA weekend.
Please contact Roy Pateman (rpateman@polisci.ucla.edu) and let him know what you plan to present this year at ASA, so we can coordinate the efforts of ESA members. Roy is proposing a panel called "New Directions in Eritrean Studies."
The ASA Call for Papers is pasted below:
The African Studies Association is pleased to announce its 43rd Annual
Meeting. The conference is November 16-19, 2000, at the Convention
Center in Nashville, TN. The theme of the conference is "People and
Power in 21st Century Africa." The ASA is currently accepting proposals
for panels, individual presentations, poster sessions, and video
screenings of edited or unedited work. The deadline for submissions is
April 15, 2000.
Complete information about the theme, sub-themes, and guidelines for
submission is available in the ASA NEWS and on the ASA website

Forms for proposals, pre-registration, and membership are also available
in the newsletter and on the website.
