"Tour Eritrea 2009" Concludes With Victory For Eritrean National Teams

Asmara, 20 December 2009: The "Tour Eritrea 2009" cycling race in which nine
different national teams had been participating concluded today with the
victory of Eritrean national teams.

In today's fifth stage of the race which covered 140 kms, Moroccan Mohammed
Sied Al-Amuni stood 1st finishing at 3 hours and 23 seconds, Libyan Ali
Al-Mebrook stood 2nd, Nathniel Berhane 3rd, Amanuel Kibreab 4th, Yonas Zerai
5th, Moroccan Abdalati Saedoon 6th, Egyptian Amir Mohammed 7th, Gianni
Tewolde 8th, Libyan Faisal Al-Shara 9th and Amanuel Haile 10th .

>From the entire race that comprised of five stages, Daniel Teklehaimanot
stood first with 77 points, Nathniel 2nd with 73 points and Amanuel Kibreab
stood 3rd with 71 points while Bereket Yemane came out 1st in the uphill and
chronometer race.

On a national level, Eritrean national teams occupied the levels 1st through
3rd while the Moroccan and Egyptian teams stood 4th and 5th respectively.

Speaking about the overall organization of the race and the skills
demonstrated by Eritrean cyclists, the commissioner of "Tour Eritrea 2009",
Mr. Erwin Kistemaker stated that spectators were very much impressed and
that he would forward his observations to the International Cycling Union.

Having gained international recognition, cycling race "Tour Eritrea" is
expected to entertain more national teams in the coming year.

It is to be recalled that national cycling teams from Eritrea, Sudan, Libya,
Moroco, Egypt, Kenya, and Saudi Arabia participated in "Tour Eritrea 2009".

 

Eri-British Private Educational Institution Graduates 242 Students

Asmara, 20 December 2009: The private educational institution Eri-British
graduated 242 students yesterday following two year associated diploma
training in the fields of engineering, economics, computer technology as
well as business administration.

In the speech he delivered during the graduation ceremony held at the Asmara
Palace Hotel, the Director General of Eri-British, Mr. Alazar Hailemichael
indicated that the internationally recognized status of the institution
presents a good opportunity for all citizens and reminded the graduates that
the training they have acquired is an asset to the nation. Mr. Alazar went
on to state that the graduates are expected to play an important role in the
ongoing nation-building process.

Pointing out the role of education in broadening perspective and enhancing
productivity, the Director of Research and Human Resource Development at the
Ministry of Education, Mr. Petros Hailemariam explained that commendable
progress has been registered in all sectors of the national economy owing to
the Government's extensive investment in human resource development.
Although the government's efforts in this case is most vital, the
development of private educational institutions that meet the required
standards should be encouraged, Mr. Petros further added.

The graduates on their part expressed their appreciation for the different
traning and educational opportunities being created by the government.
