Asmara, 7 November 2009 - A total of 1,611 students graduated today in
degree and diploma from the Eritrean Institute of Technology and
thhttp://www.shabait3.com/images/stories/semregrad.jpge Collage of Arts and
Social Science respectively. The fields of study include Teacher Education,
Engineering and Technology, Natural and Social Science, as well as Law and
Arts.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony held in Mai-Nefhi in which ministers,
Army commanders, regional Administrators, religious leaders, invited guests
and parents took part, the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom,
congratulated students and parents. He indicated the number of students
graduating from various colleges is gaining momentum both in quality and
quantity thanks to the substantial investment the Government is making in
human resource development. Mr. Semere further pointed out that the
institutions of higher education have already become central gravity of
knowledge and skill.

The Vice President of Academic Affairs in the Institute, Dr. Gebreberhan
Okbazgi, on his part explained that the Eritrean Institute of Technology is
exerting unremitting endeavors towards nurturing educated youths equipped
with the necessary knowledge and skill.

the College of Arts and Social Science, Dr. Okbagebreal Beraki, pointed out
that the College which launched its task in 3 degree and 2 diploma programs
has now expanded its activities to 7 degree and 2 diploma programs. There
are also plans to begin a degree program in Law, he added. Dr. Okbagebreal
further called on the graduates to live up to the nation's expectations.

A representative of the graduates on his part expressed appreciation to the
Government for providing educational opportunities, and expressed commitment
to make due contribution in the nation-building process.

The graduating batch comprises 1,324 students from the Eritrean Institute of
Technology and 287 from the College of Arts and Social Science.

Assab, 7 November 2009 - Hospitals and communal hospitals in Assab, Edi and
Ti'o, Southern Red Sea region, have got access to 24-hour solar
energy-generated power supply, according to Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, solar
energy technician in the Health Ministry's branch in the region.

Indicating that the newly installed solar energy device has the capacity of
generating 5.2 kilowatt, he stated that its durability is not to be viewed
lightly.

Moreover, Mr. Ibrahim explained that the necessary preparations are underway
to establish Blood Bank service in the region following the installation of
the solar energy-generating power supply.
