2009 - A total of 576 students, out of whom 278 are females, graduated in
certificate yesterday from the Asmara Technical School upon completion of a
year-long course.
The head of the School, Mr. Abrehalei Sium, indicated that the Government is
giving top priority to the task of human resource development, and that the
students pursued different fields of study, including metal works, wood
works, mechanics, general metal works, building construction, planning,
drafting, electricity and electronics.
Also speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr. Measho Gebretinsae, director
of supervision and ensuring competence department in the Education Ministry,
congratulated the graduates and their parents and stressed the paramount
importance of vocational and technical training in the development of
social, political and economic domains. Unremitting endeavors are being made
to expand and upgrade such training programs, he added.

Mr. Measho further noted that concerted action is being taken to upgrade the
curriculum so as to correspond with the newly introducing advancement of
technology.
A representative of the graduates on his part expressed appreciation to the
available educational opportunities and asserted that they would live up to
the nation's expectations.
The Asmara Technical School has so far graduated about 7, 513 students in
diploma and certificate.
