Afwerki receives Dr Ghazi Salahuddin, reviews with him developments in
Sudan
Asmara, Oct 15 (SUNA) - President Asias Afwerki of Eritrea on Thursday
received Dr Ghazi Salahuddin Advisor to the President of the Republic
and responsible for the Darfur dossier and talked with him on the
distinguished relations between the two countries and issues of mutual
interests, in particular as well as the issue of Darfur
In a press statement following the meeting, Dr Ghazi has pointed out
that he has reviewed with President Afwerki the latest developments in
the political arena in the Sudan and the developments at the local,
regional and international levels
He pointed out that his visit to Eritrea and his meeting with the
Eritrean president comes within the context of consultations with the
Eritrean brothers and for briefing the Eritrean officials on the
development in t he country, top of which the crisis in Darfur
He stressed that his talks with President Asias Afwerki also touched on
the need to boost the strategic relations not only at the bilateral
levels but at the regional level as well, as this is a region linked and
any developments in one country affect the other
He said the talks also touched on a number of African and international
issues, describing the meeting and the talks as fruitful and
constructive
