Halibet Hospital providing efficient service to the public

Asmara, 9 October 2009 - The Halibet Hospital here in the capital is
providing efficient service to the public thanks to the now introduced
readjustment programs, including the upgrading of manpower and equipments,
according to Dr. Beyene Tewolde, Director of the Hospital.

Noting that the Hospital is providing efficient and speedy service to people
suffering from various diseases, including communicable and non-communicable
ones, he explained that as a result, major achievements have been scored in
reducing mother and child mortality rate. Encouraging tasks are also being
undertaken in surgery service, Dr. Beyene added.

He further pointed out that a number of successful surgeries were carried
out on about 3,574 patients last year, and that efforts are being stepped up
to further upgrade the provision of health service.

Dr. Beyene went on to say that short and long-term programs have been drawn
up with a view to rendering efficient and modern medical service,
undertaking speedy and successful task through fostering strong coordination
among staff members, and thereby live up to the expectations of the people
and the Government.

The future action plan of the Hospital would focus on building human
capacity and putting in place modern infrastructure facilities.

Reports indicated that about 87,000 out-patients and 5,300 in-patients
received services last year at the Halibet Hospital.
