Emmerich Manual High School senior Jammyra Weekley is the 2009 Miss Circle
City Classic.

Weekley was chosen Sunday from a record 33 high school seniors, representing
13 area high schools, in the annual Classic Coronation at the Warren
Performing Arts Center.

First Runner-Up in this year’s Coronation is Camille Drake of Ben Davis High
School and Second Runner-Up is Jasmine Walton of Lawrence Central High
School.

Lawrence North High School’s Avery Hubbard and North Central High School’s
Eritrea Ghebrehiwet completed the Coronation’s Top 5.

As the 2009 Miss Circle City Classic, Weekley will reign over the important
Classic activities from the Coaches Luncheon to the American Family
Insurance Classic Parade to the game itself at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The remainder of the Top 10 in the Circle City Classic Coronation were:
A’Ishah Newson, Brebeuf Jesuit; Jasmine Moody, Ben Davis; India Whitney,

Since 1986, the Miss Circle City Classic Coronation pageant has showcased
the abilities of area young women. Contestants are nominated by counselors,
teachers and administrators at their high schools. The young women
participate in a series of workshops, interviews and write an essay. They
are also evaluated on the basis of their academic achievements, and school
and outside activities.

The other pageant contestants and their high schools were:

North Central: Kelley Coleman, Cheyanne Pace, Cheslea Wright, Briana Pankey,
Allyson Cannon; Cathedral: Lesley Perry and Jazmin Ryle; Warren Central:
Alisha Hurley, Shayla Nesbitt, Summer Foster, Shandes Hoosier, Erica Smith,
Javai Harris; Lawrence North: Aireyana Boyd; Crispus Attucks: Marshelle
Terrell; Columbus East: Iesha Johnson; Ben Davis: Raven Moody, Jasmine
Moody, Camille Drake, Paisley Campbell, Zada Kendall; Ben Davis University:
Kristen Johnson; Northwest: Jasmine Dillard; Irvington Preparatory Academy:
Jamie Scott; Lawrence Central: Timea Morgan.

Celebrities were on hand to salute the Classic Pageant participants,
including entertainer and entrepreneur Master P and his daughter
Cymphonique, while Chico DeBarge serenaded the 2009 Queen upon her
selection.

Indianapolis Recorder columnist and WTLC-AM1310’s host Amos Brown and
WISH-TV Channel 8 noon and 5 p.m. Anchor Deanna Dewberry hosted this year’s
Coronation. Portions of the event were broadcast during an hour-long special
last Sunday night on MyNDY/WNDY-TV/Channel 23.
