Looking at Eritrea is a little bit like looking at an Expressionistic painting. If you look too close, all you see are the daubs of paint. Take a few steps back and you see the picture. If you look at the big picture, what has been achieved over the past few years is truly amazing. Eritrea's resilience and ability to adapt and achieve in the face of continuous psychological warfare, threats to its sovereignty and sanctions aimed at crippling its economy is truly extraordinary. It makes the achievements registered all the more impressive and endearing. Considering that Eritrea at 21 is still a work in progress, what is worthy of praise is that it has already matured to the point where it doesn't let its enemy dictate its agenda and has taken its destiny completely into its own hands. Weyane and its masters can prattle all they want but the Eritrean economy and society crossed the Rubicon in the year 2012. The year 2012 will be remembered as the year
Eritrea's economy changed gears and accelerated its development drive. It has passed the point of no return. There is no turning back from here on out. There is also something about the way and the dignity with which Eritrea has responded to the many challenges of the past few years that should make us all Eritreans proud. The Eritrean society has come together, at home and abroad, and rose up to meet the challenges to give true meaning to the words Mekhete, Biddho and Tsinat by embracing a culture of preparedness and vigilance. This culture of preparedness that resulted from the many Mekhete campaigns has yielded many long-lasting benefits to the Eritrean society by strengthening Eritrean communities abroad and enhancing social national cohesion. 2012 was a watershed year for Eritrea's economy. 2013 and beyond will even be better and more prosperous.
