The Eritrean national men’s team has been eliminated from the CECAFA 2012
Senior Challenge cup. The event named Tusker Cup after the popular Kenyan
brew is being held in Uganda. Team Eritrea was in group C along side of
Rwanda, Zanzibar and Malawi. The Red Sea boys showed some excellent display
but came short when they tied Zanzibar 0-0 in their first game and lost a
close second game to Malawi by the score 3-2. In their third and last game
of the first round, If they would have beat or tied Rwanda they could have
advanced but they fell short once again to a well coached Rwanda team by
the score of 2-0. Team Rwanda known as the Amavubi Stars booked their place
in the last eight of the 2012 Cecafa Tusker Senior Challenge Cup. Coach
Negash Teklit however was not down as his team showed some flashes of
brilliance throughout the one week event. This is a step in the right
direction for most of those players who were finalists in the CECAFA under
20 championship just a couple of years ago when Eritrea hosted the event.
Eritrea lost that game in over time with millions watching around the
world. The quarterfinals are as follows for the rest of the tournament.

Meanwhile the game between Eritrea and Ethiopia for the African Nations

It was never scheduled to be played this week according to some posts that
were not researched. It is to be understood that the two teams are still
slated to play in two weeks, unless there are some new changes. Stay tuned

FYI: No one in their clear mind would think that the two teams would play
while they are both playing in the CECAFA senior challenge cup taking place
in Uganda.
