The 8th Annual YPFDJ Conference held in Ontario, Canada from August 23-27
brought together nearly 300 YPFDJ leaders, members, and newcomers from all
parts of the United States, Europe, and Canada. It was filled with
inspiring moments, and attendees left organized and ready to accomplish our
goals for the coming year.

The final day of conference was packed with challenging and insightful
presentations, discussions, and trainings. In the morning, attendees broke
up into training sessions for newcomers, older, transitioning YPFDJ
members, and members of various committees such as networking, media, and
Hidri. These trainings outlined the committee’s goals for the year and each
session addressed expectations of members. After going through extensive
trainings attendees reconvened for a large group report and conference
photo.

After lunch, attendees reassembled in the main auditorium to receive
excellent presentations on a variety of topics. There was a group
discussion on the six visions of the national charter, where attendees
discussed goals for the nation such as national harmony, political
democracy, and social justice. Attendees also received presentations by Dr.
Ghidewon Abay-Asmerom, Dr. Elias Amare, and Sophia Tesfamariam. Topics
covered included the UN as a tool of Western interests, writing as a tool
in nation-building, and the manipulation of the call for human rights for
the pursuit of national interests.

After awards and a closing ceremony, the conference concluded with an
incredible gwaila, with music from Qorchach and other notable artists.

As the attendees to this historic conference return to their cities, they
carry with them the resolve to fulfill the goal of building a strong,
conscious, and patriotic youth movement.
