Aug. 23, 2012
Dear Conscious and Patriotic Youth,
This August 23, 2012 there will be a historic event happening here in Toronto. The 8th annual YPFDJ conference is going to take place during that weekend, where hundreds of your peers will travel from all over the world to attend. We are living in a rapidly changing world; learn what that means to Eritreans living abroad and back home. Read below to learn more and find out if this conference is right for you. Act quickly, seats are filling up and registration closes August 9, 2012.
Network and develop
For youth by youth: The largest platform for young Eritreans from all over the world; connect with like-minded youth and share experiences. We will be able to debate and work on real world problems together; problems that affect our communities around the world and our people back home.
Organize, Organize, and Organize!
Eritrea's independence was won through hard work, sacrifice, unity, discipline and the strength of our organization. Eritrea's future development of its economy also depends on these factors and for that reason this year's conference will heavily focus on organizational development; drawing on the experience of our people's organizations yesterday and today. "Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today" - African Proverb.
Updates from Eritrea
Every year there are special guests who come to the conference to give participants updates on recent and relevant developments in Eritrea and around the world. The conference is an opportunity to get information directly from the source and to be able to engage the guests with questions that you would like to have answered.
Learn from Eritrea's experience
The conference is a great opportunity to learn from the experience of our elders as well as the experience of our peers. See examples of successful projects from different corners of the world and learn from the years of experience that our older generation has endured and continues to endure as Eritrea fights to continue developing its economy in a world that has increasingly become hostile and dangerous. It is important that participants take some time to be informed before the conference by reading some of the latest developments.
Learn how you can use your education and skills to get involved in ongoing projects inside Eritrea and in your local communities.
Our future communities and future Eritrea needs young leaders like you. The conference will give you the opportunity to discuss and debate problems but will also give you the motivation and network needed to take leadership in executing projects that can change the world. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
The conference is also a place to have fun with your peers. There will be cultural shows, music and entertainment throughout the weekend.
