Eritrean Cycling Team won first day of African Championships in Asmara

In a stylish victory with over one minute time lead, Eritrean Cycling Team won the team time trial today in Asmara - Tsaeda Christian road of 36kms. The Team Chronometer of Eritrea was well represented by Daniel Teklehaimanot, Jani Tewelde, Frekalsi Debesai and Natnael Berhane.

The Eritrean team were ahead of the famous South African Team, which finished the Chronometer with three cyclists, by one minute and twenty five seconds short of Eritrea. This is beyond expectation of any body.

The impressive time of the Eritrean team, puts them in a better position to win the entire African Championship and attests to the strong position the Eritrean Cyclists hold in African Cycling.

Third was Morocco, fourth - Algeria, Fifth - Egypt and sixth Ruwanda.

The African Cycling Championships is being held in Eritrea for the first time ever.

The Eritrean Team might expect tough competition from South Africa but they will handle it well. Morocco, Algeria, Ruwanda and Egypt will have strong riders at individual level too.

We also expect an excellent competition from our Women riders in the coming days !

The best wishes to All !

Congratualtions to the Eritrean Team and Coach Samson Solomon !
