Isaias Afewerki, Mbeki to Arrive Today

Foreign Affairs welcomed the visit preceding summit of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) scheduled to take place upcoming November, confirming importance of Sudan-Eritrea relations. Foreign Affairs Spokesman Obeid Ahmad Morawah stated to press Tuesday that the visit affirms number of crucial indicators topped by the strategic nature of relations between Sudan and Eritrea. He explained that Afewerki will review with al Bashir issues of borders in addition to mulling the best policies that can enhance mutual interests tying the two neighboring countries. For his part, Sudan's Ambassador to Eritrea Majid Yousif stated that the negotiations will review development of relations between the two countries in addition to development of situation in the African Horn. He said that the visit is timely as the world as well as the region witness many serious developments, pointing out that leaderships of the two countries accustomed to conduct joint consultations at different levels. He affirmed confidentiality of the relations linking the two countries, affirming that inauguration of the continental high way between Sudan and Eritrea scheduled to be inaugurated by the end of current month will play tangible role in boosting bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the African Panel Thabo Mbeki will chair high-ranking delegation to conduct negotiations on outstanding issues of CPA today. Presidential information secretary welcomed the visit, appreciating the African Union (AU) for supportive stances towards Sudan, affirming continuation of cooperation between the government and the panel.
