Radio host lands bigger gig

A London hip-hop radio personality with roots in Africa has won a top job in
Canadian campus radio by staying tuned to 94.9 CHRW.

Adulis Mokanan is the new program director of 94.9 CHRW (Radio Western), the
station announced Friday. He already hosts RW's "most followed" show.

Mokanan received his start in broadcasting at the station. He was born
Eritrea, then lived in Saudi Arabia. He arrived in London in the mid-1990s
when his parents moved here to join other family who had arrived several
years earlier.

He is an award-winning graduate of the Fanshawe College radio broadcasting
program.

After joining CHRW in 2006, Mokanan created his hip-hop show, the Come Up
Show. As a host,he has conducted over 500 video or radio on-air and
on-location interviews. Through his blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and use
of other social media, Mokanan's promotional efforts that have made his show
the most followed show on CHRW.
