MP defends herself over terrorism claims

Nominated MP Amina Abdalla yesterday issued a personal statement in
Parliament distancing herself from claims she is supporting terrorist
activities. She said she will continue supporting Muslim charity and accused
the authors of the UN monitoring report on Eritrea and Somalia of doing a
shoddy job.
The MP confirmed donating Sh500,000 but denied that the money went to Ahmed
Iman a wanted terrorist said to have used the money to process his passage
to Somalia. “Mr Speaker, the said Imam had left the county over a year
before I made the donation,” Abdalla said. She said the UN report is part of
a wider international strategy to stigmatise Muslim projects.
She vowed to continue raising funds for the development of Pumwani Riyadha
Mosque and other Muslim charities and asked for government protection
against unfounded international malice.
