Eritrean President Meets QOC Secretary General
Asmara, June 02 (QNA) - President Isaias Afewerki of Eritrea has met with Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) delegation headed by HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, currently visiting Asmara.
The Eritrean President welcome the Secretary-General and the accompanying delegation, praising the Qatari- Eritrean ties and existing cooperation in various fields, including the sports field.
President Afwerki was keen to convey his greetings to HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is also the Chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).
He praised Qatar's winning the bid to organize the World Cup 2022, emphasizing that it reflects the potential and capabilities of the State of Qatar .. And at the same time praised the project, which was implemented between the two countries in the and reconstruction of the Asmara Stadium, and building the Qatari- Eritrean Friendship Hall.
For his part, HE the Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his delight to visit Eritrea, and he thanked the President Afewerki for the warm reception and hospitality extended to the Qatari delegation during the visit.
During the meeting, they reviewed relations between the two countries in the sports field and ways to strengthen them .. They also discussed the establishment of joint ventures in the near future and exchange of experiences and the establishment of camps in common.
The Embassy of the State of Qatar has played a big role in the rehabilitation of Asmara Stadium and construction of the Qatari- Eritrean Friendship Hall.(QNA)
