The national soccer team Harambee Stars is full house at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, four days before heading to Egypt for the 6 team Nile Basin championship.

Head Coach Zedekiah Otieno, who took charge after Jacob Mulee's exit, is looking forward to the eventful year ahead hoping to save face for the team that has been under fire in the recent past.

Otieno has dismissed talks that the national team's poor performance in the recent past has been caused by insufficient training time.

Harambee Stars failed to Qualify for the 2010 world cup in South Africa in June and also fell short of a ticket to Angola for the Africa cup of Nations.

Grouped together with Nigeria, Tunisia and Mozambique in the qualifiers, Kenya finished bottom of the group, the same fate suffered in this year's CECAFA senior challenge where the home boys finished bottom of the grouped which also comprised of neighbours Uganda, Ethiopia and Malawi.

Otieno points out that communication with and among players must be reinforced.

Harambee Stars has been preparing for various international tournaments without playing a single friendly and when they do they have been facing teams lowly ranked by the world governing body FIFA.

The busy 2011 year may just be the time for the national team to get the exposure that has not been available to them in the past.

The year begins with the Nile Basin championship in Egypt in January, followed by qualifiers for the All Africa Games in February in which Harambee Stars face CECAFA champions Tanzania, Uganda and Eritrea in the group stage.

In March the national team will embark on the Africa cup of nation's qualifiers, starting with a crucial tie against 2010 hosts Angola. The full squad trained today at Kasarani, just four days before their departure to Cairo, Egypt.
