Egyptian Eritrean talks to support bilateral relations

Foreign Minister Mr. Ahmed Aboul-Gheit met with his Eritrean counterpart Mr.
Osman Salih and adviser to the Eritrean President Mr. Yamani Gebrab within
the framework of consultation and coordination on the ways and means of
supporting bilateral relations and exploring cooperation prospects in
various fields, in addition to coordinating on regional and international
issues of mutual interest.

The spokesman outlined that FM Aboul-Gheit tackled ways and means of
promoting activities of the Egyptian Fund for technical Cooperation with
Africa, besides its role in supporting Eritrean cadres in various fields and
preparing for signing an agreement on cementing cooperation between the two
ministries of foreign affairs.

The foreign minister also reviewed the Egyptian vision regarding the
developments on Sudanese arena together with the approaching South
Referendum, the situation in the Horn of Africa and the recent developments
in Somalia. The minister listened to the Eritrean vision on the ways and
means of achieving a comprehensive Somali reconciliation involving all
parties and leading to achieving peace and stability all over Somalia. The
foreign minister also affirmed that Egypt will keep intensifying its efforts
to guarantee the establishment of dialogue aiming at achieving comprehensive
Somali reconciliation.

The spokesman outlined that the foreign minister welcomed the positive
developments in Eritrean- Djiboutian relations and the recently concluded
agreement on demarcation of the borders through Qatar's mediation. He also
affirmed the importance of resuming efforts and dialogue to put an end to
all pending issues between the two countries
