On October 9th 2010, the Hidri chapter of London, Ontario held its inaugural
event by organizing a thanksgiving dinner for the Eritrean community in the
city. The newly established Hidri youth group expressed their hope of
serving their community and further strengthening the understanding of
Eritrea's culture and history through their future programs.
Community members and parents came out to support Hidri and gave generous
donations so as to continue the work of Hidri in their city. Parents and
community members expressed how happy they were to see a new generation of
Eritrean youth who are proud of their Eritrean identity and eager to learn
and teach others about Eritrea's history and culture.
Representatives of YPFDJ also participated in the event in show of support
and expressed their vision of a strong, conscious and patriotic youth
movement.
Special thanks to Bethlehem Redae, Temesgen Naizghi, Salina Ghebredingle,
Musie Zacarias and all the parents and community members that helped with
the event.
